MY REFLECTIVE REPORT AS A BLOGGER

My name is Lebogang Mogorosi. My journey as an Animation student is still an ongoing process.
Yes it has been a challenging one but I believe that I will make it. This is my last post as I was required to have 10 blog posts in my blog. This is my reflective report.

I have been teased, laughed at, criticized and made to feel small. These challenges actually taught me to stand up for myself and made me stronger today. They made me recognize my potential.
Despite the challenges which I personally went through, I am here, I have made it and I am still fighting because(you never know what's around the corner. It could be everything, or anything. You keep putting one foot in front of the other, and then one day you will look back and you've climbed a mountain) ... said Tom Hiddleston

My blog has been my personal space, my friend and a tool for communication. I would read my posts and other people's posts whenever I feel overwhelmed by my school work. I got an opportunity to understand how other creatives think.

phew!, for once in my life I have owned a blog. Blogging is really fun!. I mean it unites people together, it gives one a chance to explore other creatives as well. Throughout this blogging journey, I have learnt a lot. Blogging was not hard at all, although the process of starting a blog was very complicated, I really enjoyed having a blog. Yes it might be an educational blog, but it made me view life in a different perspective. It gave me a chance to reflect on my educational lessons, express my feelings and actually forced me to be open. I do not usually prefer everybody to know everything that has been or currently occurring in my life, whether good or bad.

my readers, I leave you with my favorite quote.
you may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact it may be necessary to encounter the defeats so you can know who you are, what you can rise from and how you can still come out of it.

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE GREAT ANCIENT EGYPTIAN ART

I find the Ancient Egyptian Art really fascinating.
I was really shocked when I found out that Egyptians invented the 365-days year calendar. The Nile river was situated in the northern Africa. It provided food, soil, water and transportation for the Egyptians. Floods would come each year and would provide fertile soil for growing food. I cannot imagine how the Pharaohs of Egypt were often buried in giant pyramids or in secret tombs. Examples of sculptures which Ancient Egyptians have created include the Great sphinx of Giza and the statues of Ramses II at the Abu simbel temple. They used various materials including Ivory, limestone, basalt, wood gilded with gold and sometimes even with solid gold.

Artworks were mostly done in Relief. A relief is a sculpture that is part of a wall or structure. They mostly used the colors blue, black, red, green and gold in their paintings. Small carved models were sometimes included inside tombs. These included slaves, animals, boats and buildings that the person may need in the afterlife.

The Ancient Egyptians used picture words to write called hieroglyphics. They could be at the bottom. They didn't use any punctuation. Remember that the people who trained to write are called scribes. They sometimes used a faster short form of hieroglyphics on papyrus called hieratic.
The Ancient Egyptians wrote on a type of paper called papyrus. In 1799, a french soldier found a special stone in the city of Rosetta. This stone has the same message written in both hieroglyphics and Greek. This stone was important because it helped to translate what the hieroglyphics said and could be used to help translate other hieroglyphics as well. A very famous scribe was (Imhotep). He became high priest of the sun god, designed the first pyramids and was later turned into a god.

Egyptian women had a wide range of rights and freedoms. Egyptian pharaohs were overweight.
Ancient Egyptians loved board games and they also used Pythagorean theorem, trigonometry and simple Algebra. The softer stones like limestone were used to create relief sculptures.
They worshiped an electic mix of local gods, demi gods and supernatural beings, the spirits and ancestors who never developed formal cults but who had enormous influence on the lives of the ordinary people.

THE ANIMAL IN ME

I AM AN OWL
Animals have human mannerisms or personalities rather. In cartoonism, cartoons are portrayed as human beings and as animals, they portray what animals and humans do. we as humans may identify our personalities and other people's characters according to our favorite cartoon characters.

 THE OWL PERSONALITY
FROM THE ANIMAL IN YOU WEBSITE;https://www.animalinyou.com/animals/owl/
An owl is well groomed. It is a noble individual with elegantly chiseled features that border on the fine edge of beauty and homeliness. Owls have developed quite a reputation for intelligence. Instead of an intellectual approach to life, they rely on their deeper spiritual sense to guide them. Owls are not playful creatures. Owls engage in exercises and activities in order to keep physically fit.
Hobbies of an owl include reading, debating and chess, teaching and philosophy.
The owl views sex as a complement to its relationship and certainty not as the key component.

Referring to owls as a biological and created living beings, Owls often live in churches and empty houses and are prone to swooping out of the dark with a ghostly appearance.

Although owls can sometimes be seen by day, they function best at twilight and patrol their regular hunting for mice and squirrels. I continue to say that owls espouse nonviolence, think logically and argue persuasively.

MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCE

The multiple Intelligence activity was fun!.I really enjoyed the activity.
Well....my ideas about intelligence before learning about "multiple intelligence" were that intelligent means being Intelligent in a different manner with different thinking capabilities from other people.
When I first read the words (multiple Intelligence), my first thought which I had on my mind was being highly Intelligent. I did not really get the term correct.
Now, I view Intelligence as a strength, a specific gift which each and every human being is born with. Intelligence is the ability to solve problems, to reason and understand instead of doing things automatically or by instinct. Sadhguru said that "you need to know when to use Logic and when not, all the beautiful things in life looks stupid if you logically analyze them".

Reflecting on this interesting activity. I personally have learnt that I have multiple intelligence which are Logical, kinaesthetic, visual, Intrapersonal and Existential Intelligence. I obtained a lot of ticks on the Logical Intelligence. I always keep my possessions neat and orderly and I get easily frustrated with disorganized people. I continue to say that i am prepared to handle the truth, I enjoy puzzle and mind games. I ask myself questions and come to a final answer.

logical thinking keeps you and me from wasting time, worrying or hoping. It prevents disappointment.
Imagination on the other hand, only gets you hyped up over things that will never realistically happen.

THE CODES OF GENDER

THE CODES OF GENDER FEATURING SUT JHALLY.

CHAPTER 8; TRAPPED IN THE CODE
What are some of the reasons female athletes so often pose in men's magazines in the same submissive postures as female models. Do you think this increases, decreases or has no effect on viewership of their respective sports? Explain.

I find this question  really interesting. I think some of the reasons why female athletes so often pose in the men's magazines in the same submissive posture is that the advertisers are sending an awareness that although these masculine female athletes may appear as bold and masculine on men's magazines. Advertisers are simply reminding the viewers that yes they are female athletes, we should always remember that they are also female and they are still attractive because they are able to portray submissive postures just like the female models.

I think female athletes so often pose in men's magazines in the same submissive postures as female models in order to achieve the balance of gender equality, to break the cycle of men being always in the spot light (in power) and also so that men do not walk tall and feel powerful.
I think this increases the viewership of their respective sports. Athletes will now view them as leaders because it is rare to find a depiction of a female athlete depicting multiple purposes in men's magazines and in the same submissive postures as female models do.

I NEVER THOUGHT THAT TO-DO LISTS AND ROSTERS WERE THAT IMPORTANT

I never thought that to-do lists and rosters were that important!

Week 4 of October 2019.
My life is complicated, personally and academically. I just cannot balance the two. It feels as if my life is moving at a slow pace. It feels as if I am squandering time.
I have a lot of assessments and a personal lifestyle which I have to live by on a daily basis.
here am I confusing myself and mixing the two which I did not see any problem about it.
I never made any effort to at least write a list of all my tasks and a weekly roster.
I cannot believe that I even missed the deadlines of all the assessments which I was required to complete. Some of my assessments are not even complete!.... I mean, I never thought that to-do lists and rosters were that important!
I just cannot live without them. I think my life would have been easier and enjoyable if only I understood the importance of a roster and a to-do list. My solution is to work harder than I did before. My solution for this problem is to create task lists on a weekly basis and also use colorful sticky notes to remember my prioritized tasks.
I need to avoid distractions and focus on my personal reasons of being at NeMisa.
Therefore, with all the solutions which I have come up with I believe that my life will change positively. I will not be negatively affected by anything!

from today till the end of my course. I will live my life accordingly by practicing my professional etiquettes.

It's just that I  never thought that to-do lists and rosters were that important.

WHAT HAVE I LEARNT?

                    what have I learnt?

As an Animation student, I have learnt that ART in a drawing level is therapeutic. I have discovered that when I compose an artwork ( a life drawing for instance), I become one with myself. I am more connected to myself. When I define ART as therapeutic. I mean that whenever I have a drawing session in class, I feel like I am in a spiritual session with myself because I am able to analyze who I am as an animator, I am able to clearly differentiate the difference between my strengths and weaknesses. I allow myself to be my own personal adviser. I allow myself to discover my creative abilities. I allow myself to explore my creativity more!.

When I was given my first assessment. A drawing assessment it was.
I found it very challenging to draw because I was easily distracted by the noise which came from my classmates, the continuous movements which were occurring around me. Most importantly, I found drawing around a lot of people challenging because I felt very uncomfortable especially knowing that I have not drawn in such a number of people which I do know.

Adaptation was very tough but I challenged myself and adapted to change. I allowed myself to mentally grow. ART IS THERAPEUTIC BECAUSE I FEEL SATISFIED, I FEEL LIKE I HAVE MADE A VERY HUGE ACHIEVEMENT AFTER COMPLETING AN ARTWORK !.

MY DREAM SPEECH

I have a dream today.
I have a dream that one day I will be living in my own house which I dream to design from architecture to interior design. This is a dream which I call my "MY HOME". I label it as my home because my home will be a space where I will express my talents and creativity in each and every room my house will entail.
My dream is to explore the world. I dream to explore unique and rich parts of the world as a form of relaxation and exploration.
My dream is to better my life and my family's life by working very hard at school in order to achieve my long term goals and by encouraging myself to do good especially to those who are in need.

And when that dream comes, my dream will be fulfilled. My dream will feel satisfied because I will be relieved that I am finally home.
my dream will feel therapeutic because I will be connected to myself, I will be focused on myself and even give myself a chance to explore myself more on a personal basis.
my dream will feel like a dream come true!.

MY FIRST DAY OF ANIMATION.

               MY FIRST DAY OF ANIMATION.

On my first day of animation. The day went opposite to the way I expected it to be, planned or rather thought it would be. Animation student were combined with graphic design students. We had lectures such as creativity and problem solving and communication together. My own personal first day of Animation was when I was given an assignment, specifically for animation which was to animate a pendulum swing. That was when I began to learn more about about Animation. I was really nervous about the task and the outcomes of my performance. I learnt the premier pro CS5
application and actually enjoyed using using it on my animation process.

Yes it was an animated pendulum, but the feeling was amazing!
I was impressed that I actually produced a moving pendulum with papers. My first day of animation was enjoyable because I really got to understand what Animation is and also understood what is expected of me as a student.

from the beginning of the semester, my first day of animation was actually one of the best days so far.

I ENJOYED ANIMATING!
